Privacy policy

This site is static HTML — every page, from the home page to the name index, is a file on disk. It sets no cookies of its own, has no login, no comments and no analytics beyond what the hosting server logs.

Server logs

The web server records the usual request data — IP address, time, URL requested, user agent — and keeps it for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Advertising

Pages other than the methodology, data-sources and API pages carry Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads, and may use them to personalise what you see. You can review and change this at Google My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data at policies.google.com.

The data on this site

All name figures come from published, aggregated government statistics, listed on the data sources page. Nothing here identifies an individual: the source files count births per name per year, never people, and the living estimates described on the methodology page are arithmetic on those counts. No data about you is combined with them.
